Qualifier status per the 2026 lists
Established in 1986 as the fifth 100-miler in the United States, Angeles Crest runs 100.8 miles point-to-point through the San Gabriel Mountains, gaining roughly 21,800 feet while swinging between a 1,135-foot low and a 9,300-foot summit on Mount Baden-Powell. Every entrant must log eight hours of trail work in the Angeles National Forest before the start — the race's direct payment for the permit that keeps it alive. Heat exposure between Islip Saddle and Chilao is its own test, with pavement stretches reaching into the mid-90s on exposed ridgelines.
