Running since at least 2018, Beast of the East packs 17,925 feet of gain into 100 miles of technical single-track at Crowders Mountain State Park near Kings Mountain, North Carolina — summiting both Crowders and Pinnacle peaks repeatedly on rugged rock-top ridgeline trails. The December timing brings cold, early sunsets, and frozen terrain to an already relentless course. A 34-hour cutoff governs the 100-miler; in 2024, 32 runners finished the 100-mile distance. The event holds Trail Sisters Approved designation and is a prospective Western States qualifier.
