Born to Run
Founded in 2011 by Luis Escobar — the El Coyote of Christopher McDougall's book — Born to Run takes place on a private cattle ranch near Los Olivos, California across two marked 10-mile loops of dirt ranch road and singletrack. The 100-mile distance carries a 48-hour limit, and runners camp and self-crew from their vehicles each loop. The event is as much festival as race: beer miles, live music, a Saturday-night dance, and an opening oath in honor of Caballo Blanco define the weekend. Capacity is capped at 300 participants.
