Buffalo Run
Founded in 2006 by Jim Skaggs, the Antelope Island Buffalo Run added a 100-mile distance in 2011. The course runs entirely within Antelope Island State Park — a 15-mile island in the Great Salt Lake — on rolling desert singletrack through grasslands where roughly 500 free-range bison share the course. The 100-miler is a double loop of ~50 miles, approximately 7,600 feet of cumulative gain, with panoramic views of the Salt Lake and Wasatch Range. The spring edition was cancelled in 2026 due to an early emergence of biting gnats; the 100-mile distance moved to a Fall Classic on October 10, 2026.
