Burney Mountain
Based at Burney Mountain Guest Ranch in Cassel, the Burney Mountain 100 runs a single looped course through Lassen National Forest and the Thousand Lakes Wilderness — roughly 35 miles of singletrack, 49 miles of forest road with panoramic views of Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta, 11 miles of the Great Shasta Rail Trail, and 5 miles of pavement. Total gain is 15,000 feet. The 4:30 AM start and 40-hour cutoff keep the field small; 35 spots were available for 2026 at $275. The race is cupless and offers free entry to Indigenous and Native American runners.
