C&O Canal
Founded in 2013, C&O Canal 100 covers 100 miles on the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath, starting and finishing at Camp Manidokan in Knoxville, Maryland. The course—one roughly 40-mile loop followed by two 30-mile loops—runs on pancake-flat dirt towpath; the only meaningful climbing is the 600-foot hill connecting the start to canal level. A 30-hour cutoff, essentially zero technical terrain, and 1,500 feet of total gain make it a popular first-100 and Western States qualifier. Registration opens January 1 on UltraSignup and sells out the same day.
