Qualifier status per the 2026 lists
Clark Zealand's 100-miler has started at 6 p.m. Friday since 2008, meaning every runner climbs Elliott's Knob — the highest point on the out-and-back course — in darkness on both legs. Set in Virginia's Allegheny Mountains with 21,000-plus feet of gain across roughly ten major ascents, including a 2,000-foot plunge down Cold Springs Trail in two miles, 84% of the route is natural single-track. In 2023 it joined the UTMB World Series, adding qualification stakes to an already demanding 36-hour clock.
