The first self-supported attempt was completed by founder Dan Hughes in 2022; 20 community runners followed in 2023, and the first official race launched in 2024. Huron 100 runs point-to-point through Southeast Michigan's Huron River Watershed, linking Waterloo State Recreation Area to Proud Lake across nine parks, including the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail, Potawatomi, and Brighton SRA. The 100-mile course is 82% trail with 8,200 feet of gain and a 32-hour cutoff. As a registered 501(c)(3), net proceeds support Huron River Watershed conservation.
