Iron Will Backroads runs 9 loops of 11.15 miles through Enterprise, Kansas on a mix of gravel roads and historic rail trail — flat terrain, minimal elevation change, and a manned aid station at mile 6 of each loop. The defining quirk is an active heritage railroad: a historic train runs along the trail during the race. The course is set in the Smoky Hills region of north-central Kansas, expanding the Iron Will ultra brand beyond its Junction City roots. Pacers are permitted from loop 6 onward and finisher buckles go to all completers.
