New Hampshire · Waterville Valley
Jigger Johnson
Inaugural in 2023, Jigger Johnson is an unmarked 108-mile out-and-back from Waterville Valley to the South Moat trailhead through the White Mountain National Forest—29,000 feet of gain, no crew access, navigation by GPS file only. The course climbs three NH 4,000-foot peaks (Tecumseh, Osceola, and East Osceola) plus Tremont, Big Attitash, and North Moat; technical boulder fields, root webs, and steep grades define nearly every mile. The 54-hour cutoff cuts deep: 14 of 47 finished in 2023, 27 of 51 in 2024, and 27 in 2025. Men's CR: 30:27:59 (Nadeau, 2024).
