Founded in 2017 by Candice Burt in memory of ultrarunner Stephen Jones, who envisioned a 200-mile Moab loop before dying in a 2016 skiing accident, Moab 240 covers 239.66 miles of desert, canyon, slickrock, and two mountain ranges near Canyonlands and Arches National Parks — 31,564 feet of gain across trails, four-wheel-drive roads, and gravel. The 112-hour cutoff encompasses 15 aid stations, 5 of them designated sleep stations. Part of the Triple Crown of 200s; Courtney Dauwalter won the 2017 inaugural outright; McKnight's CR stands at 55:49 (2021).
