Ozark
Founded in 2009, the Ozark Trail 100 runs 101.5 miles point-to-point through Mark Twain National Forest in south-central Missouri — 98% singletrack, south to north on the Ozark Trail, approximately 12,000 feet of gain and 11,500 of descent. Rolling hills, frequent creek crossings, and fallen oak leaves that bury rocks and roots in November define the course. The final 2.5 miles finish on gravel road. The 32-hour cutoff and autumn heat are the main enemies: the unseasonably warm 2009 inaugural produced just 56 finishers from 126 starters.
