Pony Express
Oct 16, 2026
Founded in 2006 by Davy Crockett, Pony Express Trail runs 100 miles out-and-back on 100% dirt road across Utah's west desert on the historic 1860 mail route. The course runs 58.5 miles from Lookout Campground to Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge and back to Simpson Springs — so remote that a vehicle crew is mandatory and there are no aid stations. The terrain is flat desert with about 3,000 feet of gain total; wild horses and pronghorn share the road. A 30-hour cutoff governs the 100-mile distance.
