Prairie Spirit
Founded in 2013, Prairie Spirit Trail 100 runs an out-and-back on the Prairie Spirit Trail State Park rail-trail: 50 miles south from Ottawa, Kansas to Iola, then 50 miles back on crushed limestone and town-section asphalt. The course is essentially flat — a rails-to-trails conversion through small Kansas towns — making it a popular target for first 100-mile attempts and USATF-certified records. The 30-hour cutoff includes a strict 14-hour turnaround at Iola; pacers are allowed for the return half. In 2025, 34 of 51 starters finished the 100-mile distance.
