Rim Runner
First held in 2021, Rim Runner runs a single large loop through Franklin State Forest's West Rim and West Side trails near Sewanee — mostly runnable terrain with roots and rocks, ridge running above coves on both sides, creek crossings, a stone bridge, and a waterfall swimming hole. Total gain is 11,400 feet; the 32-hour cutoff applies. Awards lean into regional heritage: shorter-distance medals are handcrafted from whiskey barrel wood; 100-mile finishers earn a three-layer welded steel buckle weighing nearly half a pound. Runners who complete two loops may convert to a 50-mile finish rather than DNF.
