Run Rabbit Run
Qualifier status per the 2026 lists
Fred Abramowitz added the 100-mile distance in 2012, and built in the sport's most distinctive start structure: Tortoises leave four hours before Hares, who race under a stricter 30-hour cutoff with no pacers, no poles, and no crew at most stops. The $100,000 prize purse — largest of any trail ultra in the United States — draws elite fields while the Tortoise wave stays open to all 450 entrants. The course loops Buffalo Pass at 10,300 feet, drops through downtown Steamboat Springs twice, and climbs Emerald Mountain before returning.
