Salt Flats
Founded around 2011, Salt Flats 100 starts at Bonneville Speedway and loops 100 miles across the same flats where land-speed records fall — 13 miles of white salt crust, 3 miles of mud-flat, then four significant climbs into the Silver Island and Floating Island ranges before crossing into Nevada at the historic Donner-Reed emigrant route. Terrain shifts from solid salt to loose dirt, ATV tracks, and rocky 4x4 roads; an alternate course without the salt flats swaps in if BLM conditions close the flats. The 36-hour cutoff allows a wide field; wind is a constant, and gaiters are recommended.
