Minnesota · Two Harbors
Founded in 1991 — ninth-oldest 100-miler in the United States — Superior runs 102.9 miles point-to-point from Gooseberry Falls State Park to Caribou Highlands in Lutsen, entirely on the Superior Hiking Trail through the Sawtooth Mountains. The terrain is 95% technical single-track: 17,350 feet of gain, near-constant climbs, and sections spanning 10 miles between aid stations. The 38-hour cutoff rewards rugged self-reliance over speed; in 2025, 176 of 255 starters finished.
