Tunnel Hill
Qualifier status per the 2026 lists
Founded in 2014 by Steve Durbin, Tunnel Hill runs a double out-and-back on the Tunnel Hill State Trail — a rails-to-trails crushed-limestone surface through southern Illinois, passing a 543-foot passage in solid rock and historic wooden trestles over wetland and cypress-tupelo swamp. Total gain over 100 miles is roughly 1,400 feet, a deliberate design for speed: five world records have been set here, most recently Caitriona Jennings's 12:37:04 women's mark in 2025. Phil Young won the men's race that day in 12:03:27, with three men under 13 hours. The cutoff is 30 hours.
