Tussey Mountainback
Founded in 2000 as a 50-mile relay and ultra, Tussey Mountainback added its 100-mile distance in 2024 — two loops of the 50-mile course through Rothrock State Forest in central Pennsylvania on gravel and paved roads, with 10,900 feet of total gain. The 100-miler starts at 6:30 PM Saturday to comply with Pennsylvania hunting season regulations, requiring runners to navigate four overnight 12.7-mile loops before joining the mass 50-mile start Sunday morning. The 28-hour cutoff governs the distance. The inaugural 100-mile edition drew 10 starters and posted a 30% finisher rate.
