Founded in 2014, Uwharrie runs five laps of a 20.5-mile figure-eight loop in Uwharrie National Forest — technical single-track laced with roots and rocks, with 3,484 feet of gain per loop for 17,420 feet total. Three named climbs break the circuit: the Soul Crusher, Hallucination Hill, and Sasquatch Summit. The terrain never relents; there are no smooth sections. The 36-hour cutoff and a required prior 50-miler screen for experience; pacers enter after 41 miles. Combined registration is capped at 150 starters across the 100-mile and 100K.
