Vero Beach Octopus Ultra

Born in 2020, the Vero Beach Octopus Ultra runs eight out-and-back arms from a base station at the Environmental Learning Center — runners complete the full 100 miles by finishing all eight arms within 32 hours. The course threads through South Florida: beach, swamp, lagoon edges, jungle trail, and two climbs over Mt. Orchid across 22 bridge crossings. Summer heat, humidity, and long stretches without water define the difficulty; a crew is strongly recommended. In 2025, 10 runners finished the full distance.
